5. Examination Integrity and Class Conduct
5.1 Exam Proctoring Consent
By taking an examination, you consent to:
- Phone camera recording of your exam environment (screen area & surroundings) for integrity verification. Phone recordings are auto-deleted within 15 days after your session.
- On-device webcam monitoring — face and eye detection runs entirely inside your browser (TensorFlow.js). No video or images are uploaded. Only alert metadata is sent to our servers.
- Machine learning-powered behavioural analysis to detect potential integrity violations (metadata only — no media files)
- Tab-switch and window-minimise event logging as integrity signals
🔒 Webcam vs. Phone camera — what’s different:
- Webcam: 100% on-device ML. No video, no images, no pixel data ever uploaded. Only behavioural alert metadata reported.
- Phone camera: Records your exam environment video. Uploaded to our server. Auto-deleted within 15 days. Does not intentionally capture your face.
5.2 Class Participation Consent
By participating in online classes, you consent to:
- Video and audio transmission during live sessions (via Agora secure streaming)
- On-device ML-based concentration and attention monitoring to ensure productive learning. Your camera feed for monitoring is processed entirely in your browser — it is never uploaded, streamed, or sent anywhere.
- Engagement tracking and analytics for educational improvement (attention scores and alert types only — no images or video)
- Recording of classes when enabled by the instructor (you will be notified before recording begins)
- Sharing of your published video/audio with other class participants via Agora
- Collection of chat messages and collaboration data
🔒 How the monitoring camera works:
- Your monitoring camera feed is rendered to a hidden, off-screen element inside your browser only.
- Face and gaze detection is performed by TensorFlow.js running 100% locally on your device.
- The monitoring track is never published to Agora and is invisible to your teacher and other students.
- Only metadata (attention score, alert type, short description) is sent to the server — no pixel data, no images, no video frames ever leave your device.
5.3 Academic Integrity
- You must take examinations independently unless otherwise specified
- Use of unauthorized materials or assistance during exams is prohibited
- You must maintain appropriate conduct during live classes
- Violations may result in exam invalidation, removal from classes, and account termination
5.4 Machine Learning Technology
We use machine learning (ML) technology, not artificial intelligence (AI), to:
- Monitor exam integrity and detect cheating attempts
- Track student concentration and engagement during classes using on-device face and gaze detection
- Analyze behavioral patterns for educational insights
- Ensure productive online learning experiences
On-Device Processing: All ML-based class monitoring runs entirely inside the student’s browser. No video data leaves the student’s device. Only numeric metrics and anonymised alert types are transmitted to our servers. No permanent biometric profiles are created.
