Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 4, 2026
1. Introduction
Testanix ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our online education platform, which includes both our online examination system and live online classes services.
🔒 Your Camera & Video Never Leave Your Device During Monitoring
During live class concentration monitoring, your camera feed is processed entirely inside your browser using on-device machine learning (TensorFlow.js). No video frames, no images, and no pixel data are ever sent to our servers or to any third party. Only a small JSON summary (e.g. attention score, alert type) is reported to your teacher. Your video is never uploaded, stored, or shared.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Personal Information
- Name and email address (used only to deliver exam results, class invitations, and important notifications)
- Educational institution details (when provided by your institution)
- Profile information for class participation (optional display name, avatar)
2.2 Examination and Proctoring Data
- Exam responses and submissions
- Performance analytics and scores
- Phone recording files when required for exam proctoring. These phone recordings capture the exam environment: the device screen area, keyboard interactions, and the surrounding work area as visible to the phone camera positioned beside/behind your device. We do not intentionally record or store facial images, facial biometric data, or any other sensitive facial information from phone recordings. Phone recordings are auto-deleted within 15 days after the exam session.
- Webcam usage during exams is processed entirely on your device. Face and eye detection runs locally in your browser using machine learning (TensorFlow.js / tracking.js). No video frames, no screenshots, and no pixel data are ever uploaded from your webcam. Only behavioural alert metadata (e.g. “face not detected”, “looking away”) is sent to our servers. Webcam data is never used to build facial profiles or biometric records.
- Machine learning-powered behavioural analysis data for cheating detection (eye tracking patterns, head movements, audio anomalies) — metadata only, no media files.
2.3 Online Class Data
- Class attendance records and participation logs
- Student concentration and engagement metrics only — collected through on-device machine learning-based attention monitoring. No video or image data is ever transmitted; only numeric attention scores and anonymised alert types (e.g. "face not detected") are sent to our servers.
- Video and audio streams during live class sessions are handled by Agora (our video infrastructure). The separate monitoring camera feed used for concentration tracking is never published to Agora and never leaves your device.
- Chat messages and Q&A interactions during classes
- Screen sharing content when you choose to share your screen
- Class recording data when recording is enabled by the instructor (with participant notification)
- Whiteboard annotations and collaborative work
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and maintain our online examination and live class platforms
- Process exam submissions and generate results
- Ensure exam integrity through machine learning-powered proctoring services
- Monitor student concentration and engagement during live classes using ML-based attention tracking
- Facilitate interactive live class sessions with video, audio, and collaboration tools
- Generate attendance reports and engagement analytics for classes
- Communicate with users about platform updates, class schedules, and exam notifications
- Improve our services based on usage analytics
- Comply with legal obligations and institutional requirements
4. Machine Learning and Data Processing
We use machine learning (ML) technology, not artificial intelligence (AI), for:
- Exam Proctoring: ML algorithms analyze exam behavior patterns to detect potential cheating without storing facial biometric data.
- Class Concentration Monitoring (100% On-Device): Face and gaze detection runs entirely inside your browser using TensorFlow.js. Your camera video is rendered to a hidden, off-screen element and analysed locally. No video frames, images, or pixel data are ever uploaded. Only the resulting metrics (attention score, alert type, brief description) are sent to our server.
- Behavioral Analysis: Pattern recognition for eye tracking, head movements, and attention levels — all computed locally on your device.
- Anomaly Detection: Identifying unusual behaviors during exams and classes. Notifications are metadata-only (no media).
On-Device Processing Guarantee: All ML-based class monitoring is designed with privacy at the core. The monitoring camera feed is not published to our video streaming infrastructure (Agora) and is invisible to other participants. We do not create permanent facial profiles or biometric templates. Video data never leaves your browser during monitoring.
5. Information Sharing
We may share your information with:
- Educational Institutions: Exam results, class attendance, performance data, and engagement metrics (attention scores only — no images or video) with your school or instructor
- Service Providers: Third-party providers who assist in delivering our services (video streaming via Agora, storage, analytics) under strict confidentiality agreements. Monitoring camera data used for concentration tracking is never shared with Agora or any third party.
- Legal Compliance: When required by law or to protect our rights
We never sell your personal data to third parties under any circumstances.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- End-to-end encryption of video and audio streams during live classes
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Regular security audits and assessments
- Access controls, role-based permissions and authentication protocols
- Secure data centers with 24/7 monitoring
- Strict internal access policies — only authorized personnel can access proctoring recordings for review and investigations
- Automatic deletion of sensitive monitoring data after retention periods
6. Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Specifically:
- Exam Proctoring Data: Phone recordings used for proctoring are automatically deleted from our servers within 15 days after the exam session unless your institution requires a longer retention period and notifies you of that requirement.
- Class Recordings: When enabled by instructors, class recordings are retained for 90 days or as specified by institutional policy, then automatically deleted.
- Concentration Monitoring Data: Student attention and engagement metrics are aggregated and anonymized within 30 days; individual session data is deleted.
- Exam Responses: Exam responses and score records are retained according to institutional policies and legal requirements.
- Personal Information: Name and email are retained to allow result delivery and communication; you may request deletion subject to institutional or legal obligations.
- Chat and Collaboration Data: Class chat messages and whiteboard content are retained for 30 days unless required longer by your institution.
We do not sell personal information to third parties under any circumstances.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request access to your personal data
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data (subject to institutional and legal requirements)
- Objection: Object to certain processing activities
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Opt-Out: Opt out of non-essential ML-based monitoring (may affect service availability)
To exercise these rights, please contact us at contact@testanix.com
